Wimborne Food Bank
The team at Teachers Building Society are delighted to be pledging support for the Wimborne Food Bank.
The Wimborne Food Bank exists to help local people experiencing a short-term crisis in their ability to afford food and is a local initiative set up by local Wimborne churches, in partnership with Faithworks Wessex.
Staff from the Society donate food for weekly collections and give up their time to help out at the food bank – sorting food and stacking the shelves ready for distribution.
The Wimborne Food Bank has handed out over 265 parcels and fed over 750 people so far in 2018.
Simon Beresford, Chief Executive at Teachers Building Society, said: “We’re delighted to be helping this worthwhile initiative which supports local families experiencing difficulties in purchasing food for themselves and their families. We’re a small team at Teachers but are happy to donate our time, as well as making food contributions to help.”
The Reverend Robert Jones, the Co-ordinator from Wimborne Food Bank, said: “We’re so pleased to have staff from Teachers Building Society supporting us; the donations from staff, and the time they give up to volunteer at the bank, are invaluable. We help over 1,000 people annually, who are referred to us by various agencies in the Wimborne and Ferndown area, because they are struggling to feed themselves, including an increasing proportion of working families with children.”
