Teachers Building Society has donated the money saved by sending an e-card to suppliers and contacts at Christmas to locally based charity Life Education Wessex for the third year running.
Life Education Wessex provides health and drug education to nearly 70,000 children in Dorset, Hampshire, Somerset and Devon. Using high tech mobile classrooms and specially trained educators, Life Education Wessex works with schools to help them meet national curriculum guidelines for health and drug prevention education to children of primary school age.
Lorraine Hewitt, Fundraising Manager at Life Education Wessex, accepted the cheque from Teachers Building Society. Lorraine says, “We’re delighted that Teachers Building Society has once again given us a donation to support Health and Drug Prevention Education for local children. We do not receive any government funding to sustain our work and so we rely on the support of the local community including businesses like Teachers Building Society to help us to continue our work".
Alan Gravett, Head of Sales & Marketing at Teachers Building Society, says: "We are very supportive of the work that Life Education Wessex does and happy to provide this donation. As an organisation founded by teachers, we place great importance on the provision of a broad education and Life Education Wessex provides vital guidance and information to children about the consequences of food and lifestyle choices on their health and their futures.”
