TBS winner at the Mortgage Finance Gazette Awards

Nov 23, 2011

Teachers Building Society beat many other financial services organisations to win the coveted trophy for ‘Excellence in Treating Customers Fairly’ at the Mortgage Finance Gazette Awards in London last night.

The annual awards, which took place at the Balls Brothers Lime Street Exchange, seek to recognise innovation and achievement among lenders and financial services companies, and also include awards for the best product providers. Teachers Building Society is fully committed to the Treating Customers Fairly initiative and has placed the fair treatment of its members and providing a truly personal service at its core for many years.

Joanne Atkin, Editor of Mortgage Finance Gazette, said: “The judges were impressed with the way Treating Customers Fairly is ingrained into the culture at Teachers Building Society. There is comprehensive TCF training for all staff and TCF forms part of their personal development review. There are also ways for staff to communicate feedback up to board level and customers’ opinions are actively sought. The results are that customer satisfaction is high and complaints are minimal.”

James Bawa, chief executive of Teachers Building Society, says “Our members are at the heart of everything we do, so to be recognised for excellence in the way in which we treat customers is fantastic recognition for the whole team here. We are extremely proud of our reputation for providing an outstanding level of customer service and we’re all very happy to have won a second national award this year.”

The Mortgage Finance Gazette is a monthly specialist publication that has been the voice of the mortgage industry for over 140 years.

Teachers Building Society was also named the ‘Best Local Building Society’ at the What Mortgage Awards earlier this year.
