Working as the head of department in a thriving college is demanding, and Lorna’s time can often be stretched. So, when she saw an advert in The Teacher magazine in 2010, Teachers Building Society seemed like a sensible choice:
“Originally, I chose Teachers because of cost. The deal was great and appropriate, and the service that I received was excellent. The two together just made it seem like the right choice. Also, the Society understood the working hours of teachers, and I never got unwelcome or inconvenient phone calls,” she said.
It was important to Lorna that the Society was able to accommodate her working life: “I felt that they understood the teaching sector and the time constraints in the day; if I needed to talk to somebody urgently in a break or a free period, they’d make that happen. The Society was reliable, and this was great news for me because, at peak times of the year, your nerves are already very stretched as a teacher - it was important to feel confident that my mortgage was being looked after. For me, that reliability was key.”
After contacting the Society, Lorna was impressed with the service she received: “I think the service is brilliant because, quite simply, I don’t have to worry. I knew as soon as I joined the Society that the service was excellent because the staff were so good at getting back to me and there was never any pressure to buy or sign up for anything: they gave me all the facts and sent me everything that I needed to consider my options myself.”
Today, Lorna continues to strive for greater things and is looking to set up an Eco School in her college. With so many work commitments, she can relax knowing that Teachers Building Society has her mortgage in hand: "I’ve never had to worry because I know that as soon as something changes or is soon to change, Teachers will get in contact with me. I don’t have to give any of my time to worrying about it, allowing me to give my time to my family, my job and the things that really matter.”
