Finance Director 

​Location: ​Dorset (Head Office: Wimborne, ​Dorset)
​Hours:  Full-Time


We are looking for a strong finance leader with a “hands on” approach and a strategic and operational finance track record from a market-leading financial institution

As our new Finance Director, your primary remit will be to direct and control the Society’s financial affairs in liaison with the Board, lead the development and agreement of the Society’s capital and liquidity requirements with the Prudential regulator and, as a Member of the Executive, support the CEO in the development and agreement of the Society’s strategy with the Board. You will lead our business planning capability; which not only includes the usual forecasting and budgeting processes, but also the key role of formulating, implementing and monitoring strategy. Your leadership/management skills will carry significant influence within the Society and beyond.

The next few years will be important in leveraging our strategy to deliver a unique thriving proposition for the education sector.


  • Appropriate accountancy qualification plus 10 years' post qualifying experience, including 5 years' relevant commercial and technical experience in a financial institution 
  • Ability to keep abreast of industry developments, relevant legislative and regulatory developments, including accounting standards, VAT, Corporation Tax and Personal Tax
  • Background knowledge of regulatory requirements applicable to banking or building society sector
  • Experience of managing and motivating a team
  • Experience of senior management, or contributing to the strategic direction of a business
