Teachers Building Society has launched a new green advice section on its website to help buyers assess the eco-friendly nature of a property and to encourage its members to incorporate energy saving measures in their homes.
The Society has a firm commitment to reducing carbon emissions and has already partnered with Pure – the clean planet trust – to offset its own carbon emissions. Now it is enhancing its pledge to protect the planet by adding green living tips to the website.
Teachers Building Society remains one of only a handful of mortgage providers to have launched a “green loan” for eco home improvements. The loan is available to the Society’s existing mortgage customers who want to enhance the environmentally friendly status of their homes and Teachers Building Society will refund the further advance fee (up to a maximum of £499) for “green loans”, which can be used for a specified range of energy saving improvements including cavity wall insulation, solar panels or double glazing.
Marketing Manager Mike Hislop says “We are passionate about protecting the environment and the website’s new green pages will encourage people to implement easy and often free eco measures.
Our green buying tips are there to guide people when viewing property, so that they know what to look for in an environmentally friendly house.”
