Teachers Building Society to hold AGM at Wimborne School

Teachers Building Society is holding its Annual General Meeting at Allenbourn Middle School in Wimborne on Tuesday 22nd April at 5pm.

Teachers Building Society was founded over forty years ago by the National Union of Teachers and the Society remains committed to helping education professionals achieve their property-owning ambitions. Mortgages are available exclusively to people working in education, although in a group of up to four people purchasing together only one needs to be a teacher. The savings products offered by Teachers Building Society are available to everyone.

As a mutual organisation, members of the Society will have the opportunity to vote to re-elect three directors and the Society’s auditors at the AGM. Members unable to attend the meeting can vote by proxy, submitting it by post or online.

Chief Executive James Bawa says “We very much hope that the later start time of our Annual General Meeting will enable more of our members to attend. We are also contacting local schools to invite teachers to a reception from 4pm, at which we will provide some light refreshments. We can then answer any questions they may have about the Society and the competitive mortgage and savings products available.”

One of the Society’s non-executive directors, Martin Reed, has been elected President of the National Union of Teachers for 2009. James Bawa says “Our relationship with the NUT is very important to us, so we are particularly delighted for Martin Reed and wish him every success in the role.”
