Teachers Building Society Plants Trees

Teachers Building Society is delighted to have taken part in ‘Those Who Plant Trees Plant Hope’ by sponsoring and planting six trees at Poor Common in Dorset this December.

The event saw hundreds of trees planted in an area of Ferndown that has lost some woodland to development in recent years. Penny Winter and Jo Clarke represented Teachers Building Society on the day and planted a 7-foot oak, surrounded by a variety of wip trees including ash, birch and holly.

Penny, Human Resources Consultant at Teachers Building Society, said. “Those Who Plant Trees Plant Hope was a wonderful initiative to support. The whole team at Teachers Building Society is keen to support the local community and we do everything we can to minimise our impact on the environment by recycling paper and installing energy saving measures in the office. It was fun to plant the trees and hear folklore tales around the log fire too!”

The tree planting event was organised by sponsors Rock Recruitment in conjunction with The Daily Echo, East Dorset District Council and DC Upton Specialised Tree Services, who supervised the planting. The education team from nearby Moors Valley Country Park provided the storytelling and demonstrated how to make a festive yule log and how ancient people of Britain started fires.
